Radon Atlantic was created by a group of friends from varied backgrounds who began studying radon and its effects out of concern for the health of our own families.
After taking the necessary steps to make our own homes safe from the effects of the carcinogenic gas, our concern turned to others. Our friends, our neighbours, our community.
Radon Atlantic specializes in radon measurement, risk analysis and mitigation. Certified by the National Environmental Health Association in both radon measurement and radon mitigation in 2009, Radon Atlantic has designed and implemented successful radon mitigation systems in homes, schools, institutions and offices throughout Nova Scotia and the northeast USA.
Radon Atlantic is an active member of the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists and The Canadian Radiation Protection Association.
Our Mitigation Specialist has achieved “Mentor” status with the Centre for Environmental Research and Technology in Colorado and will actively assist applicants for NEHA certification.
Radon Atlantic assists Health Canada with their radon mapping efforts in the region, an important aspect of Canada’s developing radon programs. We also assist CMHC with research efforts by providing their engineers with varied systems for study.
As members of AARST, we are constantly upgrading our knowledge of radon mitigation techniques through attendance at national symposiums and research.
We maintain NEHA certification with mandatory continuing education and Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs in accordance to EPA/Health Canada standards.
All employees of Radon Atlantic are covered by Workers Compensation. In addition, employees working in radon mitigation adhere to OSHA standards regarding worker exposure to radon. Mitigation employees are subject to a maximum working level exposure per month. As well, mitigation employees are subject to a LungSign screening test every two years to insure employee safety.
